Interview #2

In this interview, I got the opportunity to talk with a student on campus that is very involved with everything the University has to offer. She was already very informed with the Coliseum which is very impressive compared to the other students I have talked to about this topic. This interview helped me look at the stand point of those whom go to these events regularly, as there are not many students who do this.

Q: Have you ever been in Memorial Coliseum? If so for what event?
A: Yes, I attend as many sporting events as I can. I also go to a lot of the student put on events here. Last week I attended Chance the rapper, im looking forward to going to more concerts here because it was a really fun spot for it!

Q: What have you heard about the Coliseum?
A: I have heard a lot about the previous history of the building, like the renovations and the making of Rupp Arena

Q: Who plays at Memorial Coliseum?
A: Women's basketball, Women's Volleyball, Women's gymnastics

Q: What has the new renovations done for the Coliseum?
A: A new training place for the athletes but I think these took away a lot of the seating here. Also I think they put in a really cool lounge for the athletes that play here

Q: Why was Rupp Arena created?
A: For the Men's Basketball team because Memorial Coliseum became too small for the amount of people and fans the team attracted. The team is one of the biggest things UK is known for, so it makes sense for it to have its own Arena that is very luxurious for the players whom are basically celebrities on this campus.

Q: What more would you be interested in knowing about this historic Coliseum?
A: I think it would be cool to know the back story on why it was initially created and if they are looking into doing any more to this building to benefit it and make it more of an attraction to the community.

Q: What do you think Memorial Coliseums role here at UK is?
A: To hold sporting events for some amazing teams here at the University. Also host some cool events mainly put on the student organizations that bring a lot of students to the Coliseum to all come together.

Q:How do you imagine Memorial Coliseum in the future?
A: I think the Coliseum has potential to grow through more renovations and to become a great spot on campus that more students will want to go to. I feel like right now, a lot of students forget about this building due to Rupp Arena being created.

Q: Do you know anyone who goes to the Coliseum regularly for events?
A: Yeah, I mean I try to go to as many as I can with all my friends. I love going here, every time im here I have a fun time and it always has a great environment for sporting events to support the wildcats.
Q: Has this interview helped bring you any awareness to the coliseum?
A: Kind of, I already knew a lot about this building, but I do know most students are not very educated on this building so making a documentary on this will be very beneficial to the UK community.
